Medical Librarians' Group (Victorian Branch), Australian Special Libraries News, 9(2) June 1976. p. 38 includes the following:
Item noting that the Group has been active since 1971 and stating the three aims:
- advancement of the needs of medical libraries in Australia;
- development of better liaison between medical librarians in Australia;
- the development of education programmes for medical librarians.
State Groups are amending/ratifying a draft National Constitution. The first national newsletter has been recently distributed
A Sub-Committee is drafting standards for hospital libraries; the Basic List of Books for Small Hospital Libraries and List of Basic Journals for Hospital Libraries are being revised; the Directory of Medical Libraries is being maintained.
The Group's submission on the development of hospital libraries has been favourably received by the Hospitals and Charities Commission.

The Law and Music Libraries were recruiting similarly. Members were asked to consider the future of the MLG - to continue as a separate and independent group, striving for a national framework, or, given that a large proportion of members are already professional members of the LAA, become affiliated? The LAA plans to introduce reduced rates for participation in seminars, conferences, etc to members.
